私は世間の流れの反対のことを言いたがるので，そこは忖度して頂ければと思うのですが，鈴木章浩議員の「お前が結婚しろ」ヤジについての所感です．これは明らかにおかしな発言ですから，民意が解雇を望むのなら避けられないでしょうし，私も賛成します．

私は30代の日本人男性なのですが，たまに日本に帰ると，家族構成，配偶者・子供の有無を『悪気なく』聞く年長者が多いと思います．アメリカに住んでいた時よりも，同様の質問を受ける頻度は高いと思います．ちなみに今住んでるシンガポールでは日本と同じくらいです．地域コミュニティーと個人がベッタリしてるのは，日本も含めたアジアの文化なのかな，とも思います．いずれにしても，この鈴木議員の感覚（家族観，結婚観，男女の仕事観など）が日本の同世代（50代）に比べて特別ズレてるわけではないでしょう．余談になりますが，日本は身体的特徴，国籍などのアイデンティティについて『悪気なく』公に言及する人（特に年長者）が多く，アメリカかぶれした私はヒヤヒヤしながら聞くことが多いです．以前，テリー伊藤さんがオリンピック誘致に関連して「欧米人の胸毛」について広告で言及したことを書きましたが，私は今回の鈴木さんと同じ程度の恥ずかしい発言だと思います．広告も取り下げられませんし，自浄作用が働きませんので，その偏見は日本の多数決の民意なのだと思います．

今回の発言の免罪符になるとは思いませんが，私が少しだけ覚えている 80，90年代の日本では，男女の役割が分かれていたと思います．「亭主元気で留守がいい」「アッシーメッシー」みたいな，性別の役割を規定した差別的表現がまかり通っていましたし，田嶋陽子さんというフェミニストがテレビで公に「ハゲのオッサン」のような下品な表現を用いて男性をこきおろしていました．私の感覚では，田嶋さんは現代なら所属組織の解雇に相当すると思うのですが，でもそれを是正する機運がなかったのは当時の日本がそういう社会だったということです．その時代に一線で仕事をしていた世代の感覚を変えるのは単純な話ではありません．20 年後に私も今の乳幼児に同じようなことを言われるのは，おそらく避けられません．

今回の件に戻りますと、政治家として仕事をする人間が，現代の感覚にそぐわない，配慮のない旧態依然の発言をしたことは明らかな問題でした．発言者は世論を受けて失職するかもしれませんが，個人的には同情の余地を感じません．他方，さらに深刻な問題だと思うことは，発言するしないに関わらず，その年代の大多数が同じような感覚を有していることです．50代ならまだまだ政策決定，意思決定などに携わる人も多い年代でしょうし，もう少し根本的に日本を変えていこうというならば，ここで祭りとして失言した議員を解雇させて溜飲を下げるだけでは，トカゲの尻尾切りになってしまいます．

そもそも，こういう議論になると「男性 vs 女性」とか「若年 vs 高年」みたいなわかりやすい対立軸で描かれがちで，未来から戻ってきたトランクスが「一体みんな誰と戦っているんだ！」と言ったのを彷彿とさせます．老若男女，ひとしきり腹を立てたら，ピンチをチャンスに好転させるように知恵を絞る方向に流れが変わらないでしょうか．

「そんなことわかってるわ，じゃあどうしたら良いのか！」と言われると正直わかりません．一般化できるかわかりませんが，これは「感覚が違う人とどのように共生するか」というレベルの大きな問題だと思います．大げさかもしれませんが「なぜ日本で年功序列がなくならないのか」「どうやったら日本で東南アジア移民を差別なく受け入れられるか」「西洋の価値観では到底受け入れられないが，なぜアフリカで FGM がなくならないか」という問いと同じです．特定の思想を持つ集団の考え方を変えることは，特にその集団がクリティカルマスを有した場合は，とても難儀なことだろうと思います．

苦し紛れの案ですが，やはり「解雇」よりも「教育」の方が，まだ変化の可能性はあるのかな，とも思います．テレビとか新聞とか集団に発信する仕事をできる人は，この鈴木さんがインタビューで頭を下げるキャッチーな場面を流すよりも，なぜ日本で成人が男女問わず働く必要があって，その障害になっているものは何で，どのように変えるのが望ましいか，というような話を延々とやってもらった方が有益かと思います．もちろんこんなのも一面的な提案で，根本的な特効薬ではないと思うのですが．何か妙案があれば聞きたいです．
