唐突なのですが、昔からの小さな夢だった、徹子の部屋とかテレホンショッキングのホストになろうと思っています。やることは、僕が徹子やタモリの役になって、友人を呼んで飯でも食いながら話を聞いて、それを文字に起こして公開する、ような感じでしょうか。

大学の先生になって、週１で誰か外部のスピーカーを呼んで、トークショー形式の講演・セミナーをやると言うのが中期的な目標ですが、今回の企画はそれの準備みたいな感じです。一人ごっつならぬ、二人ＴＥＤ、のようなイメージです。

議題は古舘さんのおしゃれカンケイのようなチャラいのではなくて「世の中の人が真剣になっていることを聞く！」ということにしました。最後に両親からの手紙が届いたりもありません。利根川進先生も言っているように「世の中に問題は無数にあって、自分が本当に大事だと思う問題を選ばなければ、人生があっという間に終わってしまう」のだろうと思います。良い問いを立てられるようになりたいと思う一方、自分は観察力がないのか感受性が乏しいのか、他人が何かにアツくなっている理由が理解できないことも多く、問題を選ぶ以前に問題として理解できずに見過ごしてしまうことすら多々あります。

そのような理由で、自分の問題発見感覚を育てるという意味でも「いろんな人の仕事話を伺う」という企画を始めたいと思ってます。自分の仕事に意義を感じて誇りを持ってやっているという人、俺は面白いことやっているから話を聞いて欲しいという人、ご一報下さい。

ボストンに来て７年になりますが、ここに来た人は「スゴイ人が多い」「視野が広がった」「何をしている人だって見つかる」と言う人が多い気がします。それは一面では正しくて、だから僕もこの環境は好きで、自分も何かでっかいことをやりたいと感化されることも多いのです。正直、こんな環境に長くいることで、若干の特権階級意識やエゴが自分の中に生まれ始めているような心配もします。一方それは正しくなくて、ボストンのエリートさんに囲まれてても、毎日汗と水飴まみれになりながら、甘い匂いのする街外れの工場で働いている職人の気持ちはわからないだろうし、反抗期の男の子３人を頑張って育てた母親の気持ちもわからないでしょう。幸運なことに、僕は自分の生まれ育った環境のおかげで、グローバルだ、インパクトだ、チェンジだ、ビジョンだ、リーダーシップだと、洒落臭く、胡散臭い能書きを掲げずに、同じ場所で同じ毎日を堅実に生きる素晴らしさを知ることができました。願わくば、見かけの問題の大きさに左右された先入観をもつことなく、個人個人が自分で見つけた問題の意味を理解して、それを乗り越えた達成感や幸せに対して、正当に共感できるような心の柔軟さを失いたくないと思っています。それは難しいのだろうけどね。

だから、和菓子屋、彫刻家、香具師、研究者、銀行マン、教員、裁判官、主夫、主婦、宇宙飛行士、ベーシスト、どんな人も自分の仕事の面白さを雄弁に聞かせて下さい。あるいは朴訥にでも構いません。高額な謝礼は出ませんが、会話の節々に鴻学な洒落を散りばめられるように勉強してまいります。

 

副次的な目標

せっかくのお話なので自分独り占めにするのもどうかと思い、下記のように考えています。「ビスコの部屋（仮称）」では以下の事を目指します。

（１）高校生や大学生に対する生き方のモデルの提示

インタビューイーの幼少時代から、今のキャリアに至ったストーリーをもとに、得てして将来を迷いがちな高校生＋大学生に生き方の例を示して、進路選択の一助となればと考えています。高校生・大学生にわかるような平易な言葉で、エッセンスを話してもらうのも目的です。（ちなみに、僕の以前の指導教官は、大学院一年生にわかるような論文を書け、という言い方をしていました。）

（２）世の中にある仕事（問題）紹介

問題解決というと仰々しいのだけど、世の中には自分が気にならなかったことを解決しようと取り組んでいる人がいます。そもそも世の中にこんな問題があって、真剣に解決しようとしている人がいる、ということを紹介できればと思っています。昔の教育テレビの「仕事ゴトゴト～」のノリです。あれは僕はワクワクしながら見ていたので、世の中もワクワクさせるに違いありません。

（３）日本に馴染み薄い情報の発信

米国に来て知らないうちに、日本人・外国人問わずいろんな人に会えたので（例えばポーランドやイスラエル大学の教授とか、アメリカの柔道チャンピオンとか）、変わった人の話を日本語で発信できることは、稀少性＋面白さがあると思う。

（４）聞き上手はモテるらしいので、当該スキルを獲得する

（５）人と話すために準備をして自分の勉強になる

（６）このような記録は自分の人生の財産になる

とかでしょうか。最後３つは、自分が自分が、になってしまいましたが、毎月２人話せれば１年で２５人になって、１０年で２５０人、ライフワークのような感じで続けたいと思っています。まずは目指せ年末までに開始、です。
