少し日本に帰ってたのですが，日本は社会人が偉いとされる国だと思いました．学生と比べると非連続に偉くなった扱いを受ける気がするんだけど，何故なんでしょうかね．
私見ですが，社会人だから学生より偉いというのは幻想で，もしここを学生さんが見てたら秘密をばらすことになっちゃいますが，そもそも社会人だってメールも返信し忘れますし，遅刻もしますし，いくつになってもアホなこともしたいのです．将来に悩む時期もたまにやってきますし，自分のことすらわからないこともあります．でも対外的にはモノを知ってるフリをしてて，偉そうにあなたにアドバイスしてるかもしれません．僕は断言しますが，学生と社会人に大した差はありません．素晴らしい人はいて，学生と社会人で同じくらいいます．ザコい人の割合も同じくらいです．素晴らしいところも，ザコいところも併せ持った人もいて，学生も社会人も，ほとんどの人がそんな感じではないでしょうか．ちなみにこの文章の一人称は「僕」で統一してます．社会人も「僕」って言いますからね．

帰国中に大学生と若い社会人の有志が準備したワークショップに参加させてもらう機会がありました．そこで感じたことは，話をした大学生が，オッサンの僕に非常に気を使っていたことです．僕は気遣いの少ない国に住んで長いですから，そういった気持ちはとても嬉しかったです．まあでもね，そんな気を使わなくても良いです，と思ったのも本音です．
僕は普段シニカルな物言いが好きで，地に足のついてない「海外で戦う」とか「グローバル」などの表現をクサす傾向があります．昨今は日本でそういった文脈での「意識の高さ」が揶揄言葉となって久しいです．同時に「意識の高さ」を求めなければいけない雰囲気を生み出す社会を揶揄したくなることもあります．立派な大学に入りなさい，課外活動にも全力を出せ，留学して英語を話せるようになれ，グローバルになれ，そうやって色々と今の「社会人」ができないことをやれと言われ，お前らやれねーじゃん，と突っ込みたくなることもしばしばです．これとそれとあれができないと就職できないよ，と煽られてる今の学生は，非常に大変な状況に置かれているとも思います．
僕は社会人扱いされる立場になりました．ですが，学生が今以上に自分たちに負荷をかけて「社会人のやり方を覚えなくちゃ」と思っているようなら，それはつまんないことだと思います．社会を構成する大人の１人として，大学生に「社会人という幻想の真似事をしなくてはいけない」と思わせているのだとしたら申し訳ないですね．例えば，イスに座った僕の話を聞く時に横で僕より目線を低くする必要もないし，僕にお酌をする必要もないし，エレベーターが閉まるまでおじぎしてる必要もなければ，ましてタクシーが見えなくなるまで待ってる必要もありません．僕に渡したマイクがハウリングしたとしても，直るまで「ハウリングの動く城ですね」とか何とか言って穏便に物事を展開できるのが「社会人」ですから，失敗で恐縮する必要はありません．そういうので怒る「社会人」は，社会性も思いやりもないザコい人です．気遣いを受けることは嬉しいですが，気遣ってくれようとしたという事実で僕は十分に嬉しいです．社会人に何か頼んだからと言って，完璧に歓待する必要などないはずです．
僕は教育者としてのキャリアを始めたばかりなので，こんなことを言っても今はポジショントークにしか聞こえないかもしれません．だけど僕は大学生を含めた学生には「社会人スキル」など気にせず，もっともっと自由になって欲しいと思います．根拠のない全能感をだだ漏れにして，大人をバカにしてるくらいがちょうど小気味よいです．別にいい人ぶるつもりも，若者の味方ぶるつもりもありません．学生は少し無茶なことを言って，勢いよく行動して，教員や大人が尻拭いをするのが比較優位に基づいた役割分担です．その代わりに、現実を度外視した面白い意見を言ったり，青臭い理想を掲げたり，チームに若々しい活力を与えてもらえたらと思います．大人になると、そういうことができなくなるからです．学生が社会人の評価基準みたいなので一喜一憂するなら，それは本人にとってだけでなく，社会全体にとっての損失です．いずれ学校を卒業して，働いて，否応なくスレてしまって，あたりさわりないことが役割になる年齢がやってくると思います．生き急いで，物わかり良い大人の真似事をする必要などないんじゃないでしょうか．
今回の帰国で話をする機会があった皆さんはもちろんのこと，日本の大学生は優秀な人が多いと思います．心配しなくても，彼ら，彼女らであれば，通り一遍の社会人マナーなんて３ヶ月で身に付きます．だから今のうちは全力で尖って，学生時代を謳歌して欲しいと思います．今回のワークショップはすごく楽しかったし，オペレーションが丁寧で美しかっただけではなく，内容も素晴らしかった．僕は社会人扱いされたけど，このような素晴らしいワークショップを開催する能力はありません．これも学生と社会人に上下がない一例です．学生も社会人も，オーガナイザーとして尽力頂いた皆さん，本当にありがとうございました．
